INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

ASSUMPTION OF RISKS: The undersigned acknowledges and agrees that participating in the Event and travel to Mexico involves numerous inherent risks and dangers including the risk of serious injury, accident, illness, death and property damage, resulting from the forces of nature; local insects, flora and fauna; civil unrest; terrorism; misused or poorly maintained equipment or other mechanical failure, roads, trails, hotels, vehicles or other means of conveyance, improper or no access to means of rapid evacuation or availability of medical attention or supplies.

You are responsible for ensuring that you and all other guests on your reservation, meet any applicable foreign entry requirements and that your travel documents, such as passports and visas (transit, business, tourist, and otherwise), are in order and any other foreign entry requirements are met.

By offering Hotel Reservations in particular international destinations, we do not represent or warrant that travel to such areas is advisable or without risk, and we are not liable for damages or losses that may result from travel to such destinations. We recommend you check your country’s foreign travel guidance for further details.

HEALTH & SAFETY TIPS FOR TRAVELERS

As travel opens around the world, all destinations, airports, air carriers, hotels, restaurants, transfer companies, car rental companies, shops and excursions have established COVID-19 safety measures and precautions which may change from day to day. These safety measures may include but are not limited to curfews, attraction closings and reduced hours, size of group gatherings, social distancing requirements, health screenings and self-quarantine requirements. In addition, you must follow CDC guidelines and the recommendations of health officials. Please note that any public location where people have been or are present provides an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and The French Connection cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your vacation. By traveling, you agree that you assume these inherent risks associated with your vacation. Any and all additional costs will be your sole responsibility.

Before booking travel and before your travel dates, we strongly recommend that you visit the U.S. Department of State website travel.state.gov, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, cdc.gov, which include important information on foreign travel such as travel advisories, warnings and restrictions issued by the U.S. government. You are responsible for complying with the health requirements of the countries you intend to visit. If you make a booking, you are confirming that you have followed our recommendations above and forever waive any argument that we should have done anything further with respect to warnings or alerts.

Check with your physician regarding any immunizations that may be recommended or required. Use common sense while vacationing abroad. For example, if you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation. In addition, be cognizant of the effects of mixing alcohol and certain medications. Should someone in your party become ill, alert the resort front desk for immediate medical attention or call the emergency number provided by the resort. Also advise your Resort Representative as soon as possible, who may be able to provide assistance. If you have medical issues or concerns about medical services, we urge you to contact your resort with specific questions. Please be aware that medical standards and training of emergency responders and resort medical facilities vary greatly, and health care abroad may not be the same as you might expect at home. It may be standard policy for hospitals and medical providers abroad to require cash payment upfront for services. Check with your insurance provider regarding claims for reimbursement. Sports and aquatic equipment, especially scuba gear, may not meet U.S. safety standards and many resort pools and beaches may lack lifeguards. Balcony railing heights in Mexico are lower than the mandated heights in the United States, and also may be lower in other countries. Low balcony railings create a risk of falls, which may result in serious injury or death. Bottled drinking water is recommended. BY OFFERING TRAVEL PRODUCTS IN PARTICULAR DESTINATIONS AND INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONS, WE DO NOT REPRESENT OR WARRANT THAT TRAVEL TO SUCH AREAS IS ADVISABLE OR WITHOUT RISK, AND ARE NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGES OR LOSSES THAT MAY RESULT FROM TRAVEL TO SUCH DESTINATIONS. No destination is 100% safe. By embarking upon your travel, you voluntarily assume all risks involved in such travel, whether expected or unexpected.

RELEASE & WAIVER: THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY FOREVER, RELEASES, WAIVES, DISCHARGES, AND COVENANTS NOT TO SUE TF Wedding Consultant, Inc, and its officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively the “Releasees”) FROM AND FOR ANY LIABILITY RESULTING FROM ANY PERSONAL INJURY, ACCIDENT, OR ILLNESS INCLUDING DEATH AND/OR LOSS OF PROPERTY, HOWEVER CAUSED, ARISING FROM, OR RELATED IN ANY WAY TO, PARTICIPANT’S PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT, EXCEPT THOSE CAUSED BY THE WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR INTENTIONAL TORTS OF RELEASEES AS APPLICABLE.

POST-VACATION CONCERNS

If you have a complaint while on vacation, you must provide The French Connection with a reasonable opportunity to rectify the issue during your vacation by promptly notifying your Resort Representative who will make every effort to assist. Email: tracy@thefrenchconnectionevents.com Full details of the complaint with photographic and video evidence is recommended. Complaints will not be considered if submitted post travel.

PRE-DEPARTURE

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: It is the responsibility of the traveler to determine all necessary documentation for entry into the country for which you are traveling. The Birthday Girl as well as The French Connection Events & Travel are not responsible should you be denied boarding due to insufficient documentation.

Travel Suggestions:

  • DRESS CODE: Make sure to refer to the Host Resort page for the resort dress code. See additional packing tips below.
  • Store a color copy of your passport and credit cards in your carry-on bag, separate from the originals.
  • Pack a Pen (black or blue ink) and have it easily accessible.
  • Provide your emergency contact with your itinerary.
  • Plan accordingly for children, pets and others in your care should you be unable to return as originally scheduled.
  • Contact your credit card company to let them know you are traveling to Mexico and will have foreign charges. Remember the resort will keep a credit card on file for any incidental room charges.
  • Contact your cell phone carrier to make sure you will have service in Mexico. (I recommend turning your phone off and back on when you land in MX. This helps your phone receive the MX signal)
  • If you purchased Travel Protection, please have access to the customer service phone number and plan id.
  • Download WhatsApp to your phone. This is a common messaging service in Mexico, and you’ll find that it gets used for resort, transfer and even excursion communications.
  • Print your hotel booking and transfer confirmations.

RETURN home:

REQUIRED ACTION:

New Cancun tax: This is a new tax and you may be asked to pay it or show proof that you have paid it online. Travelers may be asked to present at departure the payment confirmation. Here is the link for the webpage where to pay it.

New Cancun tax Click Here

MORE INFO VISITAX - This mandatory Quintana Roo tourist tax came into effect April 2021. This is not the Mexico Tourism tax that is attached to airline tickets, nor is it the Environmental tax that is collected at separately at the resort.

The tax is 241mxn (around $12USD) per person. Travelers can pay before their trip, or during the trip.   The ONLY official link to pay prior to the trip is: https://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/.  If the link doesn't work, it is recommended trying a different browser, or a different credit card. If that does not work, you can contact them directly: by Phone: (998) 223-6842, (998) 329-5745, (998) 483-7659 from 6am-10pm or by Email: contact.us@satq.qroo.gob.mx.There is now another way to make the VISITAX payment, which is directly at the Cancun International Airport, There are payment booths and kiosks in the terminals 2 and 4, at arrivals which are open from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The required information is extremely simple and should only take a few moments to complete.

Groups, with families, in particular, can include everyone in one payment process to make it even smoother.

The responsible party will require the following information: The full names of every person in the group

The number of people in the group

The birthdate of everyone in the group

The passport number of everyone in the group

The group’s date of entry and departure

The process and information required should be the same regardless of whether it is done online or on arrival.

PACKING TIPS

(#1 packing Tip: Zen Attitude and Patience)

‼️Important Note‼️: Do not pack any type of e-cigarettes, CBD oil or infused products (e-cigarettes are prohibited in Mexico. Customs agents will take them from you if your luggage is searched and you could have to pay a large fine). Do not take any type of cannabis. If you are a hunter, make sure you do not have any type of ammunition in your bags. We have heard many stories of people using old hunting bags and 1 bullet accidently being left in the bag… This meant the traveler is detained and ends up being a huge expensive ordeal.

PLAN TO PACK:

  1. Valid Passport!
  2. Snacks for the plane and for transfer to resort.

3.    Hydro-flask or insulated cup. Many resorts in Mexico are cutting back on providing bottled water.  Also having an insulated cup save trips to the bar.

4.    Sunscreen – sunscreen runs about $30 at the resort. Bring plenty. If you plan to do an excursion that includes swimming with animals, snorkeling around coral reefs, you must have reef-safe sunscreen.

5.    Beach Bag and small bag/purse for night.

6.     Ziplock bags: They can hold wet clothes for the trip home, they can be used to organize your suitcase, you can toss them into your beach bag for daily essentials…they are my favorite packing tool.

7.     Cash for tipping. Small bills. See tipping guide below.

8.     Do not worry about exchanging money. USD is accepted and welcome in Mexico and most all the Caribbean islands. If you are going off the resort property, PESOs may be necessary. Ask the concierge.

9.    If you’re celebrating your anniversary or honeymoon, it is essential that you bring a copy of your marriage certificate or your wedding invitation to prove your wedding date and qualify for any special honeymoon/anniversary goodies the resort might have!

10.    You do not need a voltage adapter for Mexico

11. Most resorts either have no straws (to save the environment), or terrible biodegradable straws. Pack a re-useable straws because frozen drinks are meant to have straws 🍹.

12. Many resorts have restaurants that require men to wear long pants and closed toed shoes. Women can get away with pretty much anything (sorry guys) but ladies some restaurants require shoes other than flip flops so bring a nicer pair of shoes. Be sure to review the Host Resort restaurant dress code on this website so you are prepared.

13. Paradise can get chilly. Don’t forget a light sweater or pashmina.

14. Room Smells and Extra Moisture defense. Humid environments create musty smells. Some people complain that rooms in tropical destinations have a musty odor. I recommend packing DampRid. Picking this product up at Walmart will be a game changer! Also, if your room has a sewage smell…try running water down the drain of your tub. Odd I know but plumbing is different out of the US. Many times, tubs are not used so consequently there is a smell that comes up. I always make it a habit of running a little water down the tub drain if it is a separate stand-alone tub that isn’t being used.

15. Comfortable shoes for walking around the resort. The resort is large. They do have golf carts that will pick you up but having comfortable shoes for walking around the resort will make it more enjoyable.

Tipping

💫ProTip: We suggest at least $300-$400 for 5-day trips for 2 people. It is suggested to go to the bank before traveling and get $1's, $5's, $10's before your trip.

Breaking larger bills at the resort can be hard so we recommend getting small bills before you travel.

AIRPORT ARRIVALS

Cancun Airport is fairly simple to navigate. International arrivals may take place in Terminal 2, 3 or 4.

These directions still apply.

IMMIGRATION

Once you deplane, you will be directed to (or choose) one of 2 options for going through immigration .

(option 2 available in some terminals only)

Option 1) The normal immigration lines where you will speak to an agent, and have your passport stamped. Please keep your physical or digital boarding pass until you clear immigration in case it is needed.

Option 2) The electronic passport control machines (only available for 18 years old and up). If you go through these machines, please enter and scan your passport. Wait for your photo to be taken and collect your receipt with the QR code. Make sure to retain your receipt as you may be asked for this upon departure from Mexico.

BAGGAGE

Once you pick up your bags at the carousel, you may be selected to have your bags checked.

Not difficult. ..Just do as you are directed to allow the security personnel to check your bags for illegal substances.

Up your odds of not being selected for a security check: Make sure everything is secure at the baggage carousel, get everyone together, then walk purposely toward and through the glass sliding doors labeled “Hotel Shuttle” like you’ve done this a thousand times.

💫PRO TIP: Not making eye contact helps too.

TRANSFERS

If you signed up for the Group transfers that were emailed to the Group Leader for each room, your transfers are being provided by Lomas Travel

Uniforms to identify your transfer service:

Lomas employees wear a light TEAL/AQUA shirt

‼️IMPORTANT‼️Refer to the Blue and White paper that you were given when you arrived in Cancun. This has your return pickup time that you will leave the resort for the airport. You must be completely checkout and ready to depart by this time.

Your transfer company will meet you at the hotel entrance at the agreed upon time usually about 3 hours (often 4 -5 hours with construction in area) or so prior to your flight.

‼️IMPORTANT‼️ If you did not receive your pickup time or forgot what time you are supposed to leave the resort back to the airport, you must call Lomas at the numbers below.

SMOKING

Smoking is now illegal in Mexico in all public areas. Each resort will have its own rules on this, but most have designated smoking areas. Be sure to ask a staff member where they are located. Also, the sale of e-cigarettes is prohibited in Mexico.

DRINKING WATER

While you cannot drink tap water in Mexico due to the high mineral content, rest assured that all water and ice served at your resort and excursions is filtered. 💫 Don't forget your hydro-flask or insulated cup for water.

SEAWEED

Sargassum is a free-floating seaweed that can wash up on beaches and be present in the ocean in front of your resort. The amount of sargassum fluctuates based on the time of the year, ocean, currents, weather, wind, tides and location. While typically seasonal in the warmer months, it cannot be predicted, and patterns change year-round.  Resort staff does their best to keep the beach clean.

ROOM or RESORT CONCERNS

We hope that you have a lovely time in Mexico and hope that you do not experience any services that you are unhappy about.  However, if you have problems during your stay, you must provide the Resort with a reasonable opportunity to rectify the issue during your stay by promptly notifying the Hotel Management of your problems (documenting who you spoke to as well as date and time).  Please give them a chance to fix the issue while you are there and let you enjoy your vacation.  If your issues do not resolve quickly, please loop in Tracy, by emailing her and she will make every effort to assist. Email: tracy@thefrenchconnectionevents.com.  Include full details of the problem with photographic and video evidence is recommended.   Note: Complaints will not be considered if submitted post travel.
